The Local Advantage Design Project

Peterborough County

As part of TE Media & Design I had the opportunity to work on the design project for Peterborough County’s “The Local Advantage” Campaign.

The Local Advantage is part of Peterborough County’s economic development and tourism sector and was created as part of the County’s response to the impact of U.S. tariffs.  They aim to showcase the many unique businesses located in the county, by sharing their stories of success and how they support both residents and other businesses in their communities.

They wanted a unique logo for the campaign and collection of distinct icons that could be used to easily identify different aspects of the campaign. It was important that the logo and icons clearly communicated the ideas to the public, were visually distinct yet could also be identified as part of the collection at a glance.

Our team worked Peterborough County through a step by step process to develop the concepts and the logo and icons. I was responsible for creating the main logo alongside designing the three pillars icons.

The logo combines the concepts of collaboration with the handshake, support with the hug like shape and the landscape, which is an integral piece to the County. The 3 Pillars represent the three main sectors the campaign focuses on which is then further broken down in the 7 icons.
