The Kawarthas Logo
Peterborough County

As part of TE Media & Design I had the opportunity to work on the “The Kawarthas” logo for Peterborough County. They were looking for a logo to help create a new identity for their tourism sector since Peterborough County and the City of Peterborough no longer have a combined tourism office.
I created the logo keeping in mind the concepts of identity and the land. Other inspirations include the idea that, just how every person’s thumbprint is unique, so is the Kawarthas. It leaves a lasting impression and can forever become a part of your story whether you’ve lived here for generations or are simply visiting for a short while.
These concepts were further enforced through the choice of colours and typeface. The font has a friendly and fun quality to it while remaining legible. It was important to the County that the logo font could also be used again in the future for branding purposes, thus modifications to the font were limited.
Overall, I designed a logo that communicated the key concepts and messages Peterborough County wanted in their new tourism logo.
