Finding The Eastern Wolves
Earthroots
Social Media Campaign
As part of a small creative team, I contributed to Finding the Eastern Wolves, an eight-month project developed for Earthroots, a grassroots conservation organization dedicated to protecting Ontario’s wilderness and wildlife. The project aimed to raise awareness about the threats facing Eastern wolves and to engage a younger audience in environmental advocacy.
To meet Earthroots’ goals of expanding their reach and building long-term engagement, we created a 12-week social media campaign featuring nine short-form videos for Instagram and a culminating short documentary for YouTube. Our strategy focused on storytelling that was visually compelling, informative, and easy to connect with—especially for young Ontarians interested in environmental and animal protection.
As Documentary Director, I led the creative vision and directed the crew throughout the production process. I also worked as the Lead Videographer, handling on-location filming, conducting interviews, capturing b-roll, and managing production equipment. In post-production, I took on the role of Editor, using Adobe Premiere Pro to cut and colour-grade 4K footage shot on Sony FS5K and Canon DSLR cameras.
The campaign exceeded expectations, increasing Earthroots’ Instagram reach by 618%, engagement by 124%, and growing their follower count by 75. The short documentary premiered on Earthroots’ YouTube channel and was later showcased at the University of Guelph-Humber’s EMERGE media conference. The project also earned First Place for Best Video Entertainment Program (Division II) at the 2024 Pinnacle College Media Awards.
Through this experience, I strengthened my skills in video production, campaign strategy, and collaborative problem-solving—while helping elevate an important environmental cause through creative storytelling.
